The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has made it official: CBD is a safe and effective treatment for children suffering from some forms of childhood epilepsy, a disorder some have called a new “epidemic” even though research has been going on for years.

The first OTC Cannabidiol (CBD) sleep study to ever be conducted in the United States has been completed, and the results have been released. The study, conducted by a team of researchers from the University of Cincinnati and the Translational Research Center of the University of Cincinnati, was designed to assess the efficacy of CBD in treating insomnia and the associated daytime sleeping disturbances. The study was funded by the National Institute of Health (NIH), and was purpose-designed to evaluate the efficacy of CBD when administered orally in the evening, in order to minimize any unwanted residual effects of CBD on daytime sleepiness.

Cannabidiol (CBD), a non-psychoactive compound derived from the cannabis plant, is currently being studied by researchers to combat insomnia, cancer, multiple sclerosis, and other conditions. At the University of Alabama at Birmingham, researchers are currently studying the effects of CBD on sleep.. Read more about when to take cbd oil for sleep and let us know what you think.

A clinical study has begun at an Australian university to see whether an over-the-counter cannabidiol (CBD) product may help with sleep problems.

Certain cannabidiol products have been available over-the-counter in Australia without a prescription since February of this year. However, none are currently accessible because to the strict requirements associated with a Schedule 3 (S3) pharmacist-only categorization.

However, the race to be the first to market to tap on Australia’s unmet demand for OTC CBD is on.

Southern Cross University researchers have begun a Phase IIb double blind, randomised, placebo-controlled, multi-site clinical study sponsored by Australia’s Ecofibre to target restless sleepers. The study will utilize CBD extract from Ecofibre subsidiary Ananda Hemp in the form of a low-dose botanical CBD soft gel, which will be compared against a placebo.

“Approximately 33-45 percent of Australians suffer from sleep disruptions, which may have a negative effect on both our physical and emotional health if left untreated,” said lead researcher Dr. Janet Schloss.

There have been no clinical trials on low-dose CBD to assess appropriate dosage for sleep problems, according to Dr. Schloss, and research like these will add to the existing information on cannabidiol that pharmacists, physicians, and patients have access to.

Ecofibre Chair Barry Lambert, speaking on the difficulties of bringing a cannabis-based S3 product to market in Australia, said:

“While the process of doing S3 research and product registration is rigorous and time-consuming, we anticipate that this will become a significant, well-regulated, and highly accessible channel for Australian patients in the future.”

The study will include 438 participants, and researchers are still looking for more. The researchers are searching for individuals between the ages of 18 and 65 who are having trouble falling asleep, remaining asleep, or waking up sooner than expected.

Given the effect of COVID-19 and related limitations on Australians, which has resulted in many people losing sleep, there will undoubtedly be a lot of interest in participation.

Dr. Schloss is not new to cannabis research; she was the main researcher in a study to see whether high THC medical cannabis might help patients with glioma brain tumors.

As the first oil extracted from the cannabis plant, cannabidiol (CBD) has been touted for centuries for its therapeutic benefits. CBD is also used as an ingredient in hundreds of products, including tinctures for pets, cosmetics, and pet foods. A new study has found that ingesting CBD oil before bedtime might help millions of Americans sleep better, with benefits that include increased sleep quality, less sleep disruption, and better quality sleep..
